Sony BDV-E570 Blu-ray Player Home Entertainment System

Everything worked perfectly, plug & play if you ask me. I was able to stream movies from my Windows 7 PC without a hassle, not HD (seems DVD quality) but I’ll get into that later, I think it gets encoded into 480p; I’ll do my best to update this review including video formats quality(audio-video) and anything else i can find. My wifi is 54mbps so for now im using LAN for it. Quick setup worked like a charm with the included mic. I loaded a DVD to test 5.1 sound and i loved it. Still need to test BluRay. i’ll buy another one If i have to, no questions. PS: No idea what people say about manual being useless… i didn’t have to see the manual for installation o,O Update 03/12/11 Played Avatar on BluRay perfect image/sound quality imo. After playing with the player for a week i found a program that streams with a great quality and 5.1 audio called Serviio, im using it instead of Windows Media Center. I can stream every single video type i’ve tried, including MKV which gave me problems with WMC. Sadly this player doesn’t support .srt subtitles using DLNA. Still love the quality of the stream using a simple G wifi network. Read more »

Polk Audio Surroundbar IHT 3000 Home Entertainment System (Black)

I bought this from another website for less $ and it is worth every penny Amazon is charging! The bass is SO much more than you’d expect from such a tiny thing, excellent! The setup was as easy as described. I haven’t watched a movie with it yet just listened to music and it sounds much better than my JVC shelf system. Subwoofer placement is important, I have set it to the left of the TV and when I sit in my chair directly in front of the TV it is not as noticeable as when I stand farther away. I’ll mess around with the sub placement after I watch a movie. Overall it’s everything Polk described. I am very happy with it and would reccomend it to anyone looking for a nice sub $400 soundbar! Update 2-13-11 I ended up placing the subwoofer directly beheind me(about 15′ from the TV) That seems to be the best placement if you can manage it. I play my Xbox 360 and 1 game Formula 1 2010 sounds awesome, while racing it actually sounds like a car is behind me or next to me. As for movies I can’t say much more than it’s great! Wonderful soundbar system, reccomend to your friends! Read more »

Bose® Lifestyle® V35 home entertainment system--Black

The sound testing system is cool and I am sure that is why we are so enjoying the surround sound effects and the clarity of the voices is beautiful. The speakers bring music to life – seriously. we played so many genre and each one just echoed with such depth that you would have thought you were in the recording studio. We were impressed with the integration of the receiver with the speakers and the sound testing that came with the set-up. One thing to note, we opted to have wireless back speakers which required additional hardware to be purchased. The sound quality is a tad better with the back speakers wired; but we opted for wireless and we will probably end up not noticing in the long run! The remote was a dream and it did take a little time to learn the language of all our devices. We thought we couldnt use the infra-red wireless headphones with it – well you can! The cord has be be jacked in the front panel of the receiver and you have to turn up the volume to hear. Like everyone, we were also aware of the high costs, but when you break it down, tangible and tangible benefits do out weigh the ‘cost number’. Read more »

Panasonic SC-HTB15 Home Theater System

* Impressive sound quality – crystal clear and plays a range of frequencies which are produced by 3 tiny speakers on each side of the system (the long speaker has 3 mini speakers inside) + 1 subwoofer. * Reasonable sound volume – while it is not going to blow your roof off – in my apartment I keep it at 50% max and it loud enough for a medium sized living room * This is ideal for a small to medium sized living room/2nd TV in Rooms * The speakers can be positioned horizontally or vertically depending on space available near your TV Cons: * Not for a big sized living room – you are better of with a 5.1 sound system so that the sound it better distributed Read more »

LG LHB336 1100W 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System with Smart TV

Samsung Electronics HT-D6730W Home Theater System

The sub does not require a separate AC plug-in, which was surprising to me, however works very well. The blue-ray player does not have a pop out tray, but direct feed like a CD player in a car. The up scaling works great and standard DVD’s looks as good as HD. The 2D to 3D is not bad either. I put in Polar Express (standard DVD) movie and clicked on 2D to 3D along with the 3D sounds and my kids just loved it ;-) . One button push on the remote to get to Netflix is another plus. Again, for the price this is a very good system! Read more »

Sony BDV-E780W Blu-Ray Disc Player Home Entertainment System (Black)

We wanted to upgrade our old DVD home theater system and were looking for something with great sound. The Sony BDV-E780 certainly delivers – we noticed an immediate improvement in the quality of audio from our old Samsung system upon inserting our first CD into the system. We were blown away by the entire experience as we watched our first Blu Ray. The picture and sound were movie theater quality. Really an amazing buy. Appearance-wise, the system looks very nice. The main unit is a nice glossy black with sensory buttons. The onscreen display in minimal and looks nice. Most of the detailed options are displayed on your tv screen. Initial set-up was easy enough with color coded cables and a walk through upon turning on the system. There is even a self calibrating microphone, which helps the speakers calibrate to meet your needs based upon where you typically sit to watch movies. The manual is quite long, however, so I imagine advanced customizing of the system to your preferences can be a little more complicated. The wireless surround sound is a great addition. You should know that it is not truly “wireless” in that there are wires that run from the rear speakers to an amplifier. That amplifier can sit anywhere behind your couch and connects wirelessly with the main unit. In other words, it is only wireless in that you do not need to run wires from the front to the back of the room. This is a great purchase and one I am sure we will enjoy for many years. Read more »
